About Friends of Jesmond Dene
The Friends of Jesmond Dene is a volunteer-run charity dedicated to the preservation, enhancement, and promotion of Jesmond Dene and its surroundings. The group works alongside volunteer rangers and the council's rangers on practical conservation, gardening, and site-management tasks, and funds projects to improve the Dene. Volunteer work parties meet outside the Ouseburn Parks Visitor Centre on Red Walk. The charity also arranges talks and other activities and sends members twice-yearly newsletters covering matters of local interest. Household membership is available for a small annual fee. Through conservation work, events, and advocacy, the Friends help maintain the natural and cultural environment of this historic green space for the community.
