About West Jesmond Primary School
West Jesmond Primary School is a state community primary school on Tankerville Terrace in Jesmond, founded in 1901. It teaches children from Reception to Year 6 and is one of the largest primary schools in the city, with a notably diverse intake: pupils come from more than 30 countries and speak over 20 languages between them. The school holds a range of accreditations, including Artsmark Gold, Music Mark, School Games Gold and Green Flag status, and is recognised as a School of Sanctuary. Its most recent Ofsted inspection, in May 2025, judged the school Outstanding across all inspected areas, with a curriculum that emphasises the creative arts and personal development.
