St Hilda's Ballet School

Saturday ballet classes from age 3, plus adult classes.

About St Hilda's Ballet School

St Hilda's Ballet School teaches classical ballet to all ages and abilities across two Newcastle venues: St Hilda's Church Hall on Thornleigh Road and the Heaton Scout Hut on the corner of Cragside and Teesdale Gardens, a short walk or cycle from Jesmond. The youngest dancers, Cygnets, start at age three, progressing through Big Swans, Pre-Primary, Primary and numbered standards, with each level lasting 30 to 60 minutes and following recognised ballet syllabi, and an invitation-only session for gifted and talented children runs at the start of the Saturday morning. An intermediate adult class runs on Saturday afternoons from 2.15pm to 4pm, suiting both returners and those who started later. A distinguishing feature is live piano accompaniment, a rarity at this level that helps dancers develop musicality and timing, and the school describes its approach as inclusive, welcoming dancers of all ages and abilities.
