About Dance City

Dance City is the North East's National Dance Agency, a registered charity based in a purpose-built facility on Temple Street in Newcastle upon Tyne, about ten minutes from Jesmond by Metro or bike, with an additional venue in Sunderland. It runs more than 65 weekly classes across over 40 styles, from contemporary, hip hop, ballet and ballroom to belly dancing, street dance, commercial and Zumba, with many aimed squarely at absolute beginners and specialist classes for over-55s, adults with learning disabilities, and people living with Parkinson's or dementia. The bright, well-sprung studios are open seven days a week, with drop-in classes available for most sessions so there is no need to commit to a whole term. Teaching staff are professional dancers and choreographers, and the agency also offers a training academy, artist development, performances and space hire, and runs children's activities including holiday dance camps. Supported by Arts Council England and a member of One Dance UK, it aims to make dance accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
