About 4th Newcastle Scout Group (Jesmond)

4th Newcastle Scout Group is one of Jesmond's own Scout groups, meeting at Jesmond Parish Church on Eskdale Terrace, close to the Metro and the heart of the neighbourhood. It runs the full range of younger sections, with Beavers for ages 6 to 8, Cubs for ages 8 to 10 and a half, and Scouts for ages 10 and a half to 14, plus a route into Explorer Scouting for older young people. Weekly meetings in term time offer a mix of games, crafts, outdoor skills and the badge work that runs through the whole Scout programme.

Like every group in the movement, the 4th is led entirely by volunteers and is part of City of Newcastle Scouts and the national Scout Association. Popular sections can carry a waiting list, so families are encouraged to register their interest early through the group's website or the City of Newcastle Scouts group finder. The group also welcomes adult helpers and leaders, and it is usually the availability of volunteers, rather than space, that decides how many children a section can take.
