About The Collingwood Arms

The Collingwood Arms is one of Jesmond's older pubs, located in the historic Brandling Village. It first opened in 1836, its first landlord naming it after the Newcastle-born Admiral Lord Collingwood, who led the English fleet to victory following Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The pub was acquired by W. B. Reid of Leazes Brewery in 1890 and largely rebuilt in 1903. It remains a traditional neighbourhood pub within the conservation area of Brandling Village, a short walk from Jesmond's Osborne Road. Its long history and central location have made it a long-standing local fixture among the terraces of central Jesmond.
