Dabbawal
Indian street food restaurant — the Jesmond original. Punchy chaat, tandoori grills, thalis, and sharing platters. Strong vegetarian and vegan options.
About Dabbawal
Dabbawal Jesmond is the Brentwood Mews branch of the Newcastle Indian street food restaurant, whose name and concept draw on the traditional dabbawala system of delivering freshly prepared meals across Indian cities. The kitchen serves tapas-style Indian street food, including samosa chaat, curries, thalis and biryani, with well-regarded vegetarian dishes such as kadhai paneer and sweet potato tempura. The restaurant caters to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets, and its bright, contemporary dining room includes an area known as the Veranda. A sister restaurant operates on High Bridge in the city centre. Dabbawal is recognised as one of the UK's early pioneers of Indian street food dining.
