Burds
Hidden-gem cafe in the Gatehouse building. Large, plant-filled space with comfy sofas. Dog- and child-friendly. Known for The Muff (a posh McMuffin) and excellent coffee.
About Burds
Burds is a cafe housed in the redeveloped Gatehouse building at the entrance to the Fleming Business Centre on Burdon Terrace, Jesmond, from which it takes its name. Opened in 2021 by Sarah Tod, it occupies a large, light space and serves an all-day brunch menu alongside specialty coffee. The kitchen works with local suppliers including Pink Lane Coffee, Estate Tea Co, Charlotte's Butchery and Block & Bottle. A patio terrace provides outdoor seating in warmer months, and dogs are welcome. Its tucked-away location behind Osborne Road gives it a quieter setting than the cafes on the main road.
