About Paddy Freeman's Park

Paddy Freeman's Park sits off Freeman Road on the boundary of Jesmond and High Heaton, close to Jesmond Dene and part of the group known as the five Ouseburn parks. Largely open grassland fringed with woodland and shrub planting, it has long been a place for informal recreation, with a full-size grass football pitch, courts, bowling greens and a pavilion alongside play areas for younger and older children.

The pitch and surrounding grass have become the main base for Heaton Stannington Juniors FC, whose age-group teams train and play here throughout the season, and the open spaces are equally suited to a casual family kickabout at the weekend. Free to enter and easy to reach on foot or by bus from Jesmond, it is one of the most useful outdoor football and recreation spaces in this part of Newcastle.
