Newcastle Fight Centre

Combat sports gym on the Jesmond side of Shieldfield teaching Brazilian jiu-jitsu, MMA, boxing and K-1 kickboxing, home to Itaipava BJJ under black belt Peter Irving.

About Newcastle Fight Centre

Newcastle Fight Centre is a dedicated combat sports gym at Unit A4 on Union Street, in the Shieldfield industrial area just south of Jesmond and a short walk from the NE2 heart of the neighbourhood. It is home to Itaipava Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, led by BJJ black belt Peter Irving, and runs a full weekly programme of Gi and No-Gi jiu-jitsu, mixed martial arts, boxing and K-1 kickboxing for members at every level from complete beginner upwards.

The centre offers both group classes and private one-to-one lessons on a nightly basis, with fundamentals sessions kept separate from competition classes so newcomers can find their feet before stepping up. Trial sessions are available for anyone wanting to try grappling or striking for the first time, and the coaching emphasis is on technique, fitness and a friendly training-partner culture rather than raw aggression. Contact the gym through its website or social channels to arrange a first visit.
