Whether you have always wanted to learn guitar, improve your singing, or get to grips with music production, Subwaves Music Studios makes it easy to get started. Based at 6 Old Eldon Square in Newcastle city centre, the studio is a short Metro hop from Jesmond and offers lessons for all ages and abilities.

What They Teach

Subwaves covers guitar (acoustic and electric), singing, piano, and music production. Lessons run from 30 minutes to a full hour, with prices ranging from 30 to 40 pounds per session depending on the teacher and duration. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced musician looking to refine technique, there is a tutor to match.

The Team

The studio was founded by Jamie Devine, a vocal coach, guitar teacher, and music production tutor. He works alongside a team of professional musicians, each bringing their own specialism and teaching style. Subwaves prides itself on pairing students with the right instructor for their goals.

In-Person and Online

Lessons take place in the studio or online via Zoom, Skype, and FaceTime — handy if you want to fit a session around a busy schedule without leaving home. The studio also offers recording time for those ready to lay down tracks.

For Jesmond residents who want quality music tuition without committing to a university course, Subwaves is an accessible, professional option just a few minutes from the neighbourhood.
