About This Event
Tipple in the Tunnel combines wine tasting with a slice of Newcastle's hidden history. The evening begins at 6pm at the Hotel du Vin bar and lounge with a glass of arrival bubbles, before you're led underground into the Victoria Tunnel — a 19th-century waggonway built in 1842 to transport coal from Spital Tongues to the Tyne. Once inside, Hotel du Vin's Head Sommelier introduces three wines from around the world, talking you through each one. There's also a blind tasting round — can you guess the grape? The whole experience lasts about 75 minutes. If you dine at Hotel du Vin afterwards, show your ticket for a special offer of £25 per person including a glass of prosecco.
