The Suggestibles -- Live Comedy
Friday 13 June at the Cumberland Arms, Ouseburn. The North East's favourite improv comedy troupe return to the Cumberland Arms for another unpredictable evening of audience-driven comedy. Every show is different, every show is hilarious. A Jesmond institution just down the hill.
The Wilson Family -- Free Sea Shanties
Saturday 14 June at the Cluny, Ouseburn. FREE. The Wilson Family bring their rousing sea shanties and folk harmonies to the Cluny for a free Saturday session. Expect powerful unaccompanied singing, a warm atmosphere, and a packed room. Arrive early to get a good spot.
Northumberland Miners Picnic -- Woodhorn
Friday 13 June at Woodhorn Museum, Ashington. FREE. Celebrating 160 years of solidarity, the Miners Picnic brings brass bands, colliery banners, speeches, and community stalls to Woodhorn. One of the most important annual gatherings in the North East.
The Bebbanburg Market -- Bamburgh Castle
Friday 13 to Saturday 14 June at Bamburgh Castle. A Viking-themed market set against the stunning backdrop of Bamburgh Castle, with artisan stalls, living history, and crafts. Well worth the drive north.
Tynemouth Station Market
Saturday and Sunday at Tynemouth Station. FREE entry. Handmade crafts, vintage finds, street food, and live music beneath the Victorian canopy. A short Metro ride from Jesmond.
Indian Cookery Workshop -- Blackfriars Newcastle
Saturday 14 June at Blackfriars, Newcastle. Hands-on Indian cookery in a 13th-century friary, just a walk from Jesmond. Learn to cook authentic dishes, with all ingredients provided and a meal at the end.
Heritage Train Rides -- Stephenson Steam Railway Opening Day
Saturday 14 June at the Stephenson Steam Railway, North Shields. The 2026 season opens with steam-hauled train rides along the original route. A great day out for families and railway enthusiasts.
Relaxed Sunday Session -- Life Science Centre
Saturday 14 June at the Life Science Centre, Newcastle. A sensory-friendly session with reduced lighting and lower noise. Ideal for visitors who prefer a calmer atmosphere.
